Thanks Jamie. I am aware that it will become the community hub, which is why I emphasised that it wasn’t going to be reopened as a baths. I look forward to seeing the plans; I just hope it doesn’t end up looking like the copycat ‘community hubs’ that seem to crop up wherever councils feel the need to ‘regenerate’ an area (or, indeed, wherever Tesco decide to open another monstrosity, but I digress…)

I don’t want you to think that I’m being deliberately negative – I would love to see that beautiful old building used for the good of the community. But I’ve seen far too many places that have completely lost all of their character and charm in an attempt to revitalise the local area.

Hi Gemma. The plan is to restore the building back into use as a community hub. You can have a look at the plans elsewhere on this site so that you can see what is proposed. We’ll be putting more detail on the site very soon, including an interview with the architect who has produced the drawings

I’ve often thought that if I was to have a massive lottery windfall I’d happily spend the millions restoring a place that bought me such joy as a child.

I’ve no doubt that it will not retain any of the original features, and that’s such a shame.
