The Magic Key – an animated history part III
You might remember watching our wonderful animated history of Stirchley Baths parts I and II, made during youth challenges last year – well, have we got a new treat for you!
In this short animated movie ‘The Magic Key’ glows and takes pupils from Colmore Junior School back to 1988, the day the pool closed. It is a story of active citizens fighting for their pool and how they went about it. This really is a snapshot of history with a difference – and features lots of interesting characters.
We worked with Colmore’s after school Film Club over 5 weeks, and in just 5 hours they had made the props, recorded the narration, been cast and crew of live action sequences, and had animated 4 scenes using a stop-frame technique.
Scott Johnson has worked his movie magic to edit the children’s work into a fantastic animated movie, which we hope you will enjoy.
A huge thank you to the children who took part for all their hard work and to Mr Hughes, their fabulous learning mentor.
