Here’s a message from Senior Site Manager Steve Marsh updating us on the Baths project.
‘We are progressing well with the building be it all quite slowly at present as we keep finding issues to resolve like unsafe roof area’s and hidden asbestos which then needs to be resolved before we can continue in that area.’
‘We are more or less completely stripped out inside the building and as you may have seen started scaffolding outside. I attach a couple of photo’s to give you an idea of the extent of the problems.’
I have covered the state of wich the stirchley swimming baths became for some years now,I even went inside back in 2008 on an open day, back then the building was such a mess,I hope the contractors are doing a good job of getting the place back to its former glory in time & in budget.Good luck & I also hope to have a sneek preview inside 1 of the days 2…….
If they cannot come in on budget when the budget is an eye watering £3million +, there is no hope for any of us.
And to say they found a dodgy roof and some asbestos as if it was unexpected is a total joke.
Carry on with this disgraceful waste of public money.

Hi Mac,
Hopefully once more people are invited on restoration tours you’ll be able to see the progress that’s being made. Stirchley baths when first built served the needs of the community extremely well and I believe the facilities in the new community centre when opened, will do the same and become an important part of stirchley village.
